2012
Visiting faculty begins
Smt. Deepa Sadasivam begins sharing her expertise in Kalakshetra-style Bharatanatyam as visiting faculty at various institutions in Chennai.
2014
Kalpavruksha founded
Smt. Deepa Sadasivam establishes Kalpavruksha School of Fine Arts in Kodambakkam, Chennai, with the vision of bringing authentic Kalakshetra-style Bharatanatyam to a new generation of students.
2017
First Arangetrams
Students of Kalpavruksha perform their Arangetrams — their classical solo debuts — marking a major milestone for the school. Guru Deepa serves as nattuvanar for the performances.
2019
Margazhi festival debut
For the first time, Kalpavruksha students perform at Chennai's Margazhi festival season — a landmark recognition of the school's artistic standards.
2020
Online classes launched
Kalpavruksha begins live online classes via Google Meet, expanding its reach to students in the UK, USA, and across India. The online programme quickly grows into a full-fledged offering.
2021
Bridge Margazhi Festival
Students perform at the Bridge Margazhi Festival 2021, with a Bharatanatyam concert by a student of Guru Deepa Sadasivam — streamed live to audiences worldwide.
2022
Bridge Margazhi 2022 & 2023
Continued participation in the Bridge Margazhi Festival, with student concerts earning wide appreciation. The school's online presence grows with performances reaching global audiences.
2025
11 years of Kalpavruksha
The school celebrates its 11th year of teaching, having guided 200+ students through their Bharatanatyam journeys, completed 20+ milestone ceremonies, and guided multiple Arangetrams.
